100 Word Challenge!!!

For homework we have to write an 100 word challenge. The prompt we have to use is she just wouldn’t stop crying. So here is my 100 word challenge:

The Mournful Day
Her puffy red cheeks moved in and out as she breathed heavily. A river cry of tears flowed out of her eyes onto her dress. I tried to calm her down and it wasn’t working, she just wouldn’t stop crying. It brought dread to my heart to see her in this state. This solo act just had to stop. She was crying because the government had decided to invade her home country. “I’m going to protest,” she sobbed, trying to sound brave. “I will protest against the decision of the silly government”. Then I said ”Protesting can go magnificent lengths.

Tell me what your prompt would be?

Haiku Poems

In our writing unit we have been doing poetry. I have written 3 haiku poems, a haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. And a syllables is the number of times that you hear the sound of a vowel is the number of syllables in a word. Here are my Haikus:

Lying on the sand

No clouds in the sky today

The waves are crashing.

Coaches are screaming

Shooting the balls in the hoops

Bouncing on the court.

Mum’s head is spinning

Food is flying everywhere

Everyone yelling.

A Place to Call Home….

Our Inquiry unit this term is called A Place to Call Home. This unit is about refugees and asylum seekers, I am really excited for this unit because I don’t know much about refugees or asylum seekers so I am happy to learn about this unit. I would like to learn more about refugees than asylum seekers because I would to know about their journey to the country that they are travelling to. I also have some questions about this unit:

If people have money to build detention centers, why can’t they build homes for Refugees and asylum seekers?

What is the difference between an asylum seeker and a refugee?

How long does the refugee’s and asylum seekers stay on a boat for?

Is there always accommodation for refugees and asylum seekers?

What happens when there is no food and water?

What are some of your questions?

My hopes and goals in Term 4….

It’s Term 4 and I can’t believe it. I had a good but a bit boring holiday, how was yours? My hopes in Term 4 is to actually do more Religion I feel like we don’t do a lot in the class so I would like to do more. I don’t have many hopes so these are my Literacy, Maths and Y.C.D.I goals. My literacy goal is to make my storyline in my narratives to make more sense to entertain my reader more and I am going to do that by planning out my story’s better when I have the opportunity to. My Math goal is to get better at my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages like what is 1.2 in fractions and percentages that kind of help is what I need, and I am going to do that by estimating what it might my first then actually working it out and check with Mrs Smith. And my You Can Do It goal is to always bring my homework book because I all forget so I need to be more organised and I am going to do that by letting my mum check that I have got it. I am excited to what Term 4  can bring.

What are your hopes and goals this term?

On 7th of October it is the school concert and we will go down and do about 2 or 3 runs of the concert. For my classes New York outfits we are wearing a white long sleeve buttoned up shirt, black pants, black or white shoes, green arm bands, bright green suspenders and black or green sparkly hats, and for our hillbilly song we will be wearing long overalls with a long sleeve top and a cowboy or girl hat and boots, or we will be wearing, pants, a top, a hat and a flannel wrapped around our waist. I am so excited.

Why are you excited for our concert?

Progress on Inquiry unit….

Right now the year 3 to 6’s are doing different inquiry units, 3/4RT are doing solar system and planets, 3/4M are doing animal adaptation an the 5/6’s are doing natural disasters I am doing pretty well on my natural disasters I am finding lots of information but my question is not my title because you might change you question 10 times before you finally decide so I am just finding and researching my information. I am really excited for this unit I am going to do 5 questions for volcanoes and 5 questions for Tsunamis, the ways I think I am going to present my information is a word search and making a poster. I have learnt doing other projects not to read every single word of your information read the important bits because you are wasting time reading all of it so the best way to remember that tip is to write or type your important bits on queue cards and read of there and other people can read your other bits. What area are you doing?

I am trying to pick between doing Tsunamis and Volcanoes. I am going to insert some photos of volcanoes and tsunamis. Which natural disaster should I pick Tsunamis or Volcanoes? Bye:)tsunami-photo2

Book Review!!!

I have recently been reading a book called Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I love the book so much I just can’t put the book down. The main storyline of the book is about a boy called August and he has facial deformity, which means his face is not right and he has been homeschooled for most of his life until his parents decided he has to go to school. In the book there is lots of chapters but in between the book they have different people and there story’s. I have really enjoyed the book I think it is true I am not sure but if it is it is really good book. I feel like when I read I am actually there with the people because it feels real life I like book that are true. There are some magnificent quotes in the book, but there is one that I really like and it says ‘You can’t blend in when you are born to stand out’. I really encourage everyone to read this book I really like and I hope you do. Here is a  picture of the front cover. What book have you been into? Bye:)
